I think

Terminally curious and sometimes even mischievous, Geminis are multi-faceted souls who enjoy knowing a little bit of everything but generally not too much about one particular subject. It's just that variety is the spice of their lives!
Those Twins that don't have the 'gift of the gab' are usually talented writers or have a special interest in foreign languages or in creative arts. In love, they look for a partner who can keep up with them mentally and physically! Whether Geminis like it or not, people are usually "talking about them". Often others are jealous, because Geminis do lead very unique and unusual lives. The Gemini personality can appear mysterious or detached to others and therefore they are often misunderstood and unappreciated for the talents they offer to the world at large.
Another reason Geminis evoke so much interest is many born under this sign are multi-dimensionally talented. In money matters, some Geminis are very adept and quick at making it...and spending it too. Many Geminis are involved in international financial wheeling and dealing. They love the adventure and game playing involved in out-thinking other people. Gemini's can be very haphazard about their financial affairs too, with many of them ending up in divorce courts mainly because their partners have become tired of living on the edge of a financial precipice.
When Geminis invite for a wine tasting, you should accept this invitation. With their entertaining manner they have a lot to tell about traveling through some wine-growing regions. Their knowledge about vintage, quality and background stories is boundless.
The wine tasting will be very interesting even for the Gemini. He will serve you wines, he himself hasn’t even tried before. But don’t worry, his choices are good!

Message from Gavin Chanin to His Japanese Fans

Gavin just advise us "2010 was a great harvest (maybe my best yet) but quantities were very low due to a spring frost.  With that in mind I have allocated the 2010 Bien Nacido Pinot Noir (only 130 cases made). I saved you 20 cases, which just for perspective is equal to amount I saved for California. Japan is a very important market for me so it why I give you a good allocation."

Given that this is amount represents only a third of  what we got for the last vintage 2009 (Sold out!)
we ask our customers to be understanding when the wine arrives in Japan !

Winery of the Month

San Pedro Regalado

Long Tradition
The Winery Cooperative San Pedro Regalado was founded in 1958 by the initiave of La Aguilera neighbours. It receives the name of the saint whose corps rests in the shrine located in this small town of La Aguilera. The first members following the tradition of the cooperative movement of that time, decided to join their efforts and their vineyards to elaborate their own wine.

Old Vineyard
Old vineyard, many of them centenary ones, whose variety ‘tempranillos’ and cultivated on small plots, with the manual selection of the grapes, reflect accurately the care in the manufacturing process of their wines. Winery Keeping and looking after the tradition is not against developing and using modern machinery. Stainless steel tanks and oak barrels to elaborate our oak and breeding (‘crianza’ ) wines, are an accurate reflection of the enterprising spirit to elaborate quality wines and reflect a plan of future. As a last investment, it has been built a nave in order to hold some offices and which basement has been carefully prepared as a store to bottle and to produce wines.

Embocadero (2009) received 92 points from Parker. To see further details of this wine, please clik here.

Wine & Food

2010 H de l'Hospitalet Pinot Noir + First Bonito of the Season

The characteristic of this Pinot Noir from the South France is charming fruitiness.  I matched this with lightly roasted bonito.
As you may already know, bonitos in this season are lighter than those returned bonitos in autumn. Therefore, instead of full body Pinot Noir from New World, I selected a lighter one from South France.  First bonito of the season can be matched from full body white to medium body red. Soy sauce is also red wine friendly.
Since you eat it with ground ginger, it goes well with lighter red just like Gerard Bertrand Pinot Noir. Among the spices, ginger itself goes better with white wines.
In this matching, another key factor is aroma. Lightly broiled bonito has toasty aroma as the outer surface is roasted. This leads to the wonderful matching with Pinot Noir that characteristically has a smoky nose. Aroma does matter in marriage. Cheers to the first bonito of year and Bertrand's Pinot Noir.
