Crystal clear with glittering highlights, the wine has an elegant and complex nose which reveals white blossom aromas, especially hawthorn, together with honey and coriander notes that bring succulence.
The full and smooth attack introduces an attractive mineral tension, while the mid-palate offers a dense and elegant texture on fresh butter, verbena, pear and lime flavours given additional complexity by well-integrated oak, leading into a long and lingering finish.
Good rainfall in winter helped to reconstitute water reserves in the soil. After a cold February, when average temperatures were 1.5 °C lower than in a normal year, March was mild.
Budbreak began on 27 March and continued at normal dates for the estate.
April and May were warm, with average temperatures 1 °C higher than normal. April was wet but May was dry, with only 12 mm of rain.
These conditions caused flowering to take place early, between 21 May and 2 June.
June and July were hot (average temperatures were 1.5 °C higher than normal), with the usual amount of rainfall. The grapes started to ripen early, on 22 July, ten days before the average veraison date.
Conditions in August and early September allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and in excellent health. The Chardonnay parcels were harvested in early September, ten days earlier than in an average year.
