Situated 20km north of Bordeaux along the Gironde estuary there lies an extraordinary area of deep fine gravel, which has grown vines since the middle of the 17th century. Since the 1855 classification the village of Margaux has an extraordinary First Growth of the same name plus more than 20 other classified growths and several highly ranked crus brougeois? Today visitors can discover and enjoy the charming landscape, which has seen dotted with many beautiful chateaux and very recently a couple of comfortable hotels and a unique 18 hole golf course! The particularity of Margaux is its unique ‘terroir’ which is transposed in the character of the tanins of each grape variety. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verde). It is the most delicate, feminine and elegant expression of the Medoc. The wines might seem more approachable when young but the also contain wonderful underlying flavors and concentration which offer very good ageing potential also. There is even greater finesse and elegance after a few years of bottle age and which offers extremely interesting combination with the finest food. Margaux is definitely a name with lots of charm and a wine to share with friends.
