The wine region Pfalz (engl. Palatinate) is located in South-Western Germany, stretching from the Rhine valley to the French border. The Pfalz is the second largest wine growing region in Germany and has had a reputation for wines of exquisite quality stretching back to the 19 th century, when wines from here were rated amongst the best and most expensive wines of the world.
The 2018 vintage is considered as very good. An unusually dry summer and many sunshine hours during the whole growing season until late into harvest time, ensured fully ripened grapes of high quality. This has been captured in our (Blauer) Spätburgunder – which is another name for Pinot Noir in German. An expressive, full-bodied wine with aromatic complexity and distinct cherry notes. The intense sweetness blends very well with harmonious acidity and light tannins.
A good match with game dishes, hard cheese and dark chocolate.
