Tasting Note:  Aromatics of faint honeysuckle flower and toasted graham with accents of ripe pineapple fill the nose. On the palate, our 2017 Rancho Santa Rosa Chardonnay is balanced with outstanding varietal character that exudes flavors of lemon curd, toasted marshmallows, and hints of honeycomb that linger on the finish. This Chardonnay has all of the nuance of barrel fermented Chardonnay, with pops of bright acid that reflect its cool growing region.

Food Matching:Brown butter sauce gnocchi with pine nuts.

Grape Variety:  100% Chardonnay.

Climate:  The AVA is exposed to fog and coastal breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean. East-west coastal valleys, cool weather, fog, wind and soils that limit vine vigor and crop yield intensify the flavors of our wines.
Soil:The miracle of the region’s microclimate began about 20 million years ago during the Miocene Epoch, as marine sediment was deposited deep under the Pacific Ocean. Due to tectonic plate movements, mountains rose out of the ocean in a north-south orientation. Over a timespan of twelve million years, the mountains broke from the plate and turned clockwise, creating the most clearly delineated transverse range, from Alaska to Chile, on the Pacific Coast. For this reason you find poor marine-based soils with elevated calcium levels.
Harvest:  Manual and machine.
Vinification:  Stainless steel fermentation.
Ageing:  17 months in neutral French and American Oak.

Acidity: 6.4g/l.
PH: 3.42.
Residual sugar: 3.6g/l.
