by Pieroth admin

Laurenz V. Charming (2014) was featured in Forbes “Ten Best Wines of 2016” written by Katie Kelly Bell.

"The Laurenz (Lenz) Moser Family is a fifth generation Austrian producer who focuses entirely on crafting Gruner Veltliner. This particular wine is a blend of fruits from 30+ year-old vines. Boasting minerality and richness, this wine shows both juicy peach and sassy citrus notes. A wonderful wine that showcases the value and quality of Austrian winemaking."

Historical Chianti flask bottles are now in stock!

by Pieroth admin

Historical Chianti flask bottles are now in stock!

A modern version of the Chianti flask which was very popular in its day. Originally flasks were made by hand by glassblowers, and as a s result the round shape was the easiest shape for a glassblower to produce, and was therefore also the most economical. However problem is, they don't stand up without a bit of help. And that's where the straw base came in. The straw gave a flat base for the bottle to stand up in and had the added effect of protecting it. This round shape continues today even after machines took over though is less commonly found. As in the 1970s the traditional started to be replaced by the Bordeaux-style bottle, partly because "Chianti wanted to update its image - the flask was associated with a rather rustic kind of wine - and partly because straw bottoms made by hand were too expensive".
