Terroir：The complexity of this wine can be attributed to the array of appellations and vineyards we source from up and down Napa Valley. A third of the grapes for this wine come from our Rutherford Estate Vineyards, the Sequoia Grove Estate and the Tonella Estate Vineyard. The remaining grapes are from many of our esteemed growers across the Valley. We have been working with many of these growers for decades. These vineyards are located in the sub regions of Rutherford, Howell Mtn, St Helena, Oak Knoll, Atlas Peak, and Coombsville.
Climate：Cabernet Sauvignon grapes blossom and thrive in the Mediterranean climate of Napa Valley, with little rain falling March to November.
Geology：The Rutherford AVA is an American Viticultural Area located within Napa Valley AVA and centered on the town of Rutherford, California. The area is known for its unique terroir particularly with its Cabernet Sauvignon. The well drained soil of this area is composition of gravel, loam and sand with volcanic deposits and marine sediments from the Franciscan Assemblage. The appellation accounts for only 6,650 acres (27 km2) in the center of Napa Valley.
Harvest：Manual hand harvested, cluster sorted and whole cluster pressed.
Vinification："Winemaking practices: The grapes that made this wine were sorted 3 different ways: in the vineyard, by cluster, and by berry. The fruit received a 1-2 day cold soak before inoculation. We had multiple, small fermentations with different French yeast strains that we tended to in unique ways. The fermentations received either pumpovers or punchdowns 2-3 times a day. Timing and frequency was determined by taste. The wine then went through malolactic fermentation in barrels and was carefully racked three times before bottling.
