Tasting Note: Ürziger Würzgarten produces wines of a completely unique nature. The wines show the typically juicy and exotic fruit of the “spice garden” vineyard, with a rich mouth feel, a spicy acid tingle and lingering finish. Kabinett is the lightest, most delicate style of Riesling in Germany, produced from the earliest harvested grapes.
Grape Variety: 100% Riesling.
Mosel Region: Located in far western Germany, the Mosel valley’s steep, southfacing slopes create the perfect climate for Riesling, giving the vines ideal exposure to the sun. The cool climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining bright acidity.
Soil: Red slate and red volcanic sandstone.
Vinification: Cool fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks and traditional Fuder barrels; fermentation stopped by chilling.
Acidity: 8.4 g/l.
Residual sugar: 48.8 g/l.
Wine & Spirits 92 Point!
“Crisp and snappy, this has an uplifting prickle of CO2 that emphasizes its zesty acidity. It blossoms with air, taking on an arugula-like spice that weaves through its pithy citrus flavors while savory minerality provides the base notes. It’s full-bodied yet delicate, with a sense of springtime in its freshness.” February 2020
