Tasting Note: Mid straw with a bright clarity. Peach, mandarin and nectarine fruit flavours complexed with meally, hazelnut and butter notes. In the background there is also a mineral, flinty character. A medium bodied wine with a creamy texture and soft acidity. The fruit and mineral flavours are well integrated and persist on the long, cleansing finish. On the nose it diplays classic gooseberry, currant and grapefruit, with complexing wet rock and nettle notes, typical of the Awatere Valley sub-region. This wine has bright, fresh acidity balancing the vibrant gooseberry and pure mineral flavours, which persist on the lengthy, crisp finish.

Food Matching: Perfect match for Mediterranean food, pork or chicken and creamy mushroom pastas.

Grape variety: Chardonnay.

Climate: A temperate, maritime influenced climate with warm sunny days and cool nights.
Soil: Light silt soils over free draining gravels.
Vinification: The bunches were whole cluster pressed and coursely settled. The ferment was initiated in a stainless tank before transferring to French oak barrels approximately half way through ferment. The wine was aged in these barrels for 10 months.
Ageing: We believe after cellaring for a year or two the Pinot Gris will gain texture and complexity to augment the varietal characters exhibited by the wine now. However, the wine is already in good balance, and can be enjoyed immediately.
Acidity: 5.2 g/L.
PH: 3.52.
Residual sugar: 5.3 g/L.
